Zimbabwe Association in Australia (ZIMAA) New South Wales is an apolitical Zimbabwe Community entity which was formed by members of the Zimbabwean community in August 2004. The idea to form ZIMA was conceived at a meeting held at a residence in Wentworthville in July 2004. This was after we had encountered some bereavements as a community and faced difficulties meeting funeral expenses for those bereavements. People who attended that meeting felt that we should organize ourselves as a community and prepare ourselves for such incidents in future.

In August 2004, the first ZIMA executive committee was formed which comprised of Mr S. Mandigora , Ms E. Pasipanodya , Mr Mutyambizi, Mr A. Wala, Mr D. Shekede and Mr  S. Mutyambizi. In 2009 the direction of the association changed and the focus was on compassion at bereavements and 13 years on we have grown to also bring the community in good times and celebrate our culture as a whole.
